Role: Senior Data Architect

Location: Fully Remote (Belgium-based banking client)

Contract: Long-term (5-year strategic programme)

Rate: €1350 per day

The Programme

You will play a pivotal role in designing and governing the bank’s next-generation, cloud-native data platform. The objective is to modernize legacy data estates into a scalable, secure, and regulatory-compliant architecture that enables advanced analytics, AI, and real-time decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise data architecture strategy.
• Design scalable, secure data platforms leveraging Snowflake and Databricks.
• Architect modern ELT/ETL frameworks and data models for enterprise use
• Establish best practices around data governance, lineage, security, and quality
• Align architecture with banking regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR)
• Lead architecture governance forums and provide technical leadership
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Cloud, Security, and Business stakeholders
• Drive performance optimization, cost efficiency, and scalability across the platform
• Support long-term roadmap planning across the 5-year transformation programme

Required Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in Data Architecture roles
• Proven enterprise-level architecture experience with Snowflake
• Data modeling, performance optimization, multi-cluster design
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
• Spark architecture, Delta Lake, Lakehouse design principles
• Experience designing data platforms in Azure or AWS cloud environments
• Deep understanding of modern data architecture patterns (Lakehouse, Data Mesh, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of data governance and regulatory compliance in banking or financial services
• Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on technical levels

Desirable Experience

• Experience in large-scale banking transformation programmes
• Knowledge of streaming/event-driven architectures (Kafka, Event Hub)
• Infrastructure-as-code and DevOps for data platforms
• Exposure to AI/ML platform architecture
